Gerald L. “Jerry” Gauck, 82, Milan

Gerald L. “Jerry” Gauck, 82, of Milan, Indiana passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. Jerry was born on Friday, October 17, 1941, in Greensburg, Indiana; the son of Quirin and Margaret (Raver) Gauck. He graduated from New Point High School in 1959. Jerry married the love of his life, Rose Marie (Schebler) Gauck, on June 17, 1961, and she survives him. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Quirin and Margaret Gauck.

Jerry was a lifetime farmer who loved antique farm equipment, good bourbon, and plenty of bacon. He also enjoyed maps, geography, weather, and traveling along with hauling manure and shelling corn. Jerry was the State 4-H Champion Tractor Operator in 1960 and was third in the National Tractor Operator contest that same year. He was also on the Indiana State 4-H Tractor Council, Ripley County 4-H Corporation, Rep. Luke Messer Ag Advisory Board, was a 4-H Tractor and Club Leader, Ripley County Purdue-CARET member, and an election poll worker.

He was a member of the Saint Charles Catholic Church for fifty-five years; the Saint Charles Parish Council, and the Saint Charles Right to Life. Jerry retired from Cincinnati Incorporated after working there for 38-years. He was a board member for the Cincinnati Credit Union, the Indiana Corn Growers Board, Ripley County Farm Bureau, St. Elizabeth Hospital Patient Advisory Board, and the Milan School Board.

Jerry will be missed by his wife Rose Gauck of Milan; children Brian (Kelly) Gauck of Colorado Springs, Bonita (Dow) James of Greenfield, and Bart (Mollie) Gauck of Milan; brothers Donald (Ruth) Gauck of Greensburg, Timothy (Christy) Gauck of Greensburg, and Ernest (Mary Lou) Gauck of Greensburg; sister Polly Ann (Terry) Fox of Greensburg; grandchildren Beth (Gauck) Teach, Sara (Gauck) Dixon, Erin (Gauck) Macdonald, Eric Gauck, Behrens Gauck, Kaylan James, Milla James, Tyler Gauck, and Tapanga (Gauck) Burgess; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Jerry from 5:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. The Rosary is at 4:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 213 W Ripley St, Milan, IN 47031, with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Jerry towards Masses or the Indiana 4-H Foundation.
