Gagne, Darren

Darren Gagne, 51 years old of Guilford, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Born and raised in Dover, IN, Darren was a Navy Seal for seven years. While on duty in Guam, he met the love of his life, Maria, on a blind date and proposed after only three dates. In August of this year, Darren & Maria would have celebrated their 30th year anniversary. Darren was a good husband and a loving father who was extremely patient and hilarious. He loved to fish, shoot guns, and watch TV and was also a collector of guns, coins and baseball cards. He enjoyed cooking especially BBQ, steak, and lots of Asian based foods. In fact, he wished he had gone back to school to learn how to cook as a professional. He loved his bulldogs Hamilton, Juicy, and the late Dozer. Darren was the first to receive the Argosy Star Award for stopping to assist a man whose car collided with a semi-truck and consequently caught fire. Heroically, Darren put out the fire and saved the man from the burning car. As typical Darren style, he said “it was no big deal” while the gentleman credited Darren for saving his life. Darren now has a star from the constellation Hercules named after him.
Darren will be greatly missed by his wife Maria and their four children Cannil Montano of Covington, KY, Danieka Gagne of Cincinnati, Dariena Gagne of Wilder, KY, and Demarie Gagne of Guilford, IN as well as his mother Darlene Fox, and siblings Doug & Dawnielle Gagne, and Ralph, Julie & Mike Fox. Darren is preceded in death by his father Daniel Gagne.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home from 12:00-1:30 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 at St. John’s Campus, All Saints Parish, immediately followed by burial.
