Letts, In. — The numbers are in and “Farmers Feeding the Flock” grossed $17,328.53, that will be a net donation to Greensburg Bread of Life of about $6,000.
Local farmer Merril Smith developed the idea and presented to the Evans family near Letts, and the project was in full gear. The Evans family donated the use of 40-acres this year for a soybean crop. Stewart Seeds, Kova Fertilizer, Best Equipment and Lowes Feed and Grain all made significant donations to the project.
Smith says the fundraiser is a way to help feed less fortunate people, teach young people about agriculture and try to inform the public about the sacrifices made by farmers, both physically and financially.
There is a search for a land donor to continue the effort next year. If you would like to help out click here.
