Frye-sponsored bill to help Vets signed into law

Indianapolis, In. — Gov. Eric Holcomb signed legislation into law sponsored by Republican state representative from Greensburg Randy Frye that will require the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to issue permanent parking placards for Hoosier veterans with disabilities.

Under this law, Hoosier veterans with disabilities will also be able to use this removable placard in vehicles other than their own. If veterans in Indiana qualify for the disabled veteran license plate, the BMV will issue a permanent parking placard upon request.

“This is a simple benefit we wanted to provide to our Hoosier veterans with disabilities,” Frye said. “This will remove the need for veterans to frequently renew disabled parking permits and replaces it with an easily obtained lifetime placard veterans can carry and use from vehicle to vehicle.”
