Indianapolis, In. — Republican state representative from Greensburg Randy Frye honored Indiana volunteer firefighters who have served their communities for 50 years or more.
Frye recognized over 60 volunteer firefighters with a House resolution during Monday’s legislative session.
“As a retired firefighter, I understand the sacrifices made by those who are devoted to the safety of others,” Frye said. “Volunteer firefighters put themselves in harm’s way to ensure our communities are safe. We owe them our gratitude.”
According to Frye, Hoosiers are served by 837 volunteer fire and rescue departments across Indiana. These volunteer firefighters usually maintain full-time jobs, while serving the fire department on a part-time basis after completing required training.
