Friday’s boys games see North take Civil War Game over South

The following are boys basketball recaps from Friday, December 3.

(VAR) North Decatur won the Civil War Game at South Decatur 69-62. 

The Chargers got 26 points and 18 rebounds from Lance Nobbe, 19 from Blake Spears and 12 from Kaden Muckerheide.  The victory by ND snapped a five-game losing streak to South.

The Cougars were led by Hunter Johnson’s 24 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists. Jacob Scruggs scored 19 and had seven boards.

(JV) South Decatur’s reserves edged North Decatur 58-56.

Leading the Chargers was Cooper Parmer with 20 points and eight rebounds. Brayden Hancock scored 11.

(VAR) Jac-Cen-Del lost in Aurora to South Dearborn 55-50.

The Eagles Wyatt Day had 22 points, Blake Simon bucketed a dozen and Ryan Wilson tallied nine.

Eli Hoffman led the Knights in scoring with 21 points.  Reese Willoughby had 19,

(JV) The Eagle JV won 53-39 over the Knights.

Jac-Cen-Del leading scorers were Gavin Groth with 17, Corbin White nine and Caleb White eight.

East Central beat Milan 62-39.

The Trojans broke open a close game with a 24-10 third quarter. Caleb Mergenthal led the way with 22 points which included 15 from the arc.  He also had five steals.  Jayden Dennis scored 12 and dished out seven assists.  Ryan Selhorst added 11 points.

Southwestern Hanover was all over Shawe 83-36. 

The Rebels Mitch Mingione had a game-high 20 points.  Teammate Parker Davis carded 18 to go with eight rebounds and Coleton Cloud added 10 points and five assists.

Phillip Kahn netted 13 points for the Hilltoppers.

Connersville routed Rushville 64-36.

The Spartans had balanced scoring with five players recording eight to 12 points:  Tobey Billups and Lucas Barron 12, Josh Williams 10, Braxton Myers nine and Kaleb Sparks eight.  Barron ended up with a double double as he pulled down 10 rebounds.  Billups ahd five steals and four assists and Williams also had four dishes.

In other finals of local interest (info will be added when received):

  • Oldenburg fell to Edinburgh 58-45.
