Batesville, In. — Firefighters from Batesville, Oldenburg and Sunman battled frigid temperatures early Thursday in a fire that destroyed French’s Locker. Upon arrival just after midnight, Batesville fire chief Todd Schutte says the fire had appeared to be burning for a while. As of 3:50 a.m. firefighters were on the scene looking for hotspots.
George Street is closed between Main and Park Streets and the alley on the north side of the Memorial Building is restricted.
The cause remains under investigation and the damage estimate is not available.
