Frederick Elmo “Fred” Elliott, 76, of Milan passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Fred was born on Saturday, May 24, 1947, in Batesville; son of Elmo and Helen (Naegele) Elliott. Fred married the love of his life, Charlene (Burnett) Elliott on April 18, 1975, and she survives. Fred worked at Seagrams for 35 years as a forklift driver. Fred proudly served our country in the United States Navy and he and his wife traveled to Navy reunions each year. He was a member of the Southeastern Indiana Farm Club, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6234 of Milan. Fred was also an EMT for Milan Rescue 30 for many years. Fred enjoyed doing body work on vehicles, flying remote controlled planes, and was passionate about antique tractors.
Fred will be missed by his wife, Charlene Elliott of Milan; son Chad (Lynn Narwold) Elliott of Milan; daughters Carmen (Otha Asher) Elliott of Osgood and Amber (Wesley Holmes) Shade of Hinesville, Georgia; sister Delores Sigmon of Springfield, Ohio; and grandchildren Christopher Powers and Terry Shade.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Elmo and Helen Elliott and brother-in-law Burley Sigmon.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Fred from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Milan American Legion Post #235. Burial will take place at New Cravens Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Fred to the Milan VFW Poppy Fund or the Milan VFW Veterans Fund.
