Franklin Street Project Begins

(Greensburg, IN) – Franklin Street between Washington and Main in downtown Greensburg is scheduled to close today for a streetscape reconstruction project.

Plans call for curb, sidewalk, street, and other improvements.

Businesses on the east side of the square will remain open.

The project is being funded by a combination of Community Crossings, INDOT, READI 1.0, federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and local dollars.

Work is expected to wrap up in mid-August.

It’s part of a two-phased downtown rehab.

Also on the drawing board is significant storm water improvements on Washington Street from Franklin to Monfort.

That project is expected to go out to contract late this year, with bids awarded in 2025.

However, that schedule is subject to change.
