(Brookville, IN) – Franklin County Public Transportation Director Missy Ratz recently informed county commissioners that a merger among local departments into a regional system is on the way.

The state is pushing for smaller counties to merge their transportation agencies into regional systems.

Franklin County will consolidate with Rush, Fayette, and Union counties along with rural parts of Wayne County.

Ratz says, other than a new name, there will be few changes, including local service at the same level and no price hikes.

Franklin County will continue receiving federal funds for the service through the State of Indiana.
