Brookville, In. — Since 2010, the Franklin County Community Foundation has provided funding to Franklin County High School to host a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Workshop for graduating Franklin County seniors. Students complete the FAFSA to see if they qualify to receive federal student aid to help finance college or career school. The Foundation has worked closely with Franklin County High School’s Office of Student Services to make this a successful and beneficial event.
Recently, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and INvestEd hosted the second annual Indiana FAFSA and Scholar Success Program (SSP) Completion Awards. The Indiana FAFSA and SSP Completion Awards program was initiated to recognize schools that achieve over 70% FAFSA or SSP completion.
Franklin County High School’s 2018 cohort was recognized for more than 70% completion of the FAFSA. Joseph Woods, President of INvestEd, Teresa Lubbers, Indiana’s Commissioner for Higher Education and Dr. Jennifer McCormick, State Superintendent of Public Instruction were among the speakers for the event. Sara Shaver, FCHS College and Career Readiness Coordinator, and Shelly Lunsford, FCCF Executive Director represented Franklin County at the program.
