Frank F. McDonough, age 72 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on October 30, 1950, in Indianapolis to the late Louis and Mary (Folmer) McDonough.
Frank graduated from Whiteland High School in 1968. He held several jobs including the Indiana State Highway Department where he helped build much of the Interstate in the Indianapolis area, an Auctioneer, and a Real Estate Appraiser. He loved woodworking and fishing. Some of the items that he handcrafted were tables, bookcases, jewelry boxes, toys, and helped make 4-H wood items. Frank always liked talking to his friends, telling jokes, and teasing or “picking” on everyone. He said he thought his mission in life was to make people smile. Many friends often told him they were having a bad day until he came to see them. He especially liked hanging out with friends at McDonald’s and Kroger where he liked to walk.
He became a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where he married Louise Wietlisbach in 1974 and they raised five children.
He is survived by his wife Louise of Batesville; daughters Melissa (Gary) Buettner of Pendleton, Indiana and Karen McDonough of Batesville; sons Steven McDonough of Batesville, Marcus (Tracy) McDonough of Chulvota, Florida and Matthew McDonough of Batesville; grandchildren Brycen Dillinger, William McDonough, Mina, Sean, Abby, and Grayson Buettner; brothers Louis (Sherry) McDonough Jr. of Tipton, Indiana, Gary (Sheila) McDonough of Seymour, Indiana and Roy (Diana) McDonough of Franklin, Indiana. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister Linda Sue who died at birth.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive visitors, Thursday, November 16th, from 10 – 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church in Batesville. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery at a later date.
