(Batesville, IN) – Four Southeastern Indiana YMCA staff members were recognized in February for going above and beyond the call to serve others and advance the Y’s mission when they received the YMCA S.O.A.R. Award (Service and Outstanding Achievement Recognition).
The S.O.A.R. Award recognizes staff leaders who illustrate outstanding efforts to contribute to the success of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA community through their service and achievements.
Lydia Linville –
Jenny Salyer, Director of Youth Services, presented to Linville.
“Lydia is a senior at Milan High School. She is very busy with two jobs, college courses, and she is a cheerleader. When we had a staff vacancy, Lydia stepped up to organize the office and the Junior Gymnastics Room,” Salyer said. “She has trained two new staff and even made videos for skills to be taught to our preschool level participants. She’s been very dependable and flexible with her schedule. I am so grateful for her hard work and leadership.”
Susan Hornbach –
Kristen Fletcher, Southeastern Indiana YMCA Aquatics Director, said of Hornbach when presenting her award, “Susan had been a Senior Splash participant for a while when I asked her to take over teaching the class. She had to step in after someone who had been teaching the class for ten years. She has done a fantastic job. She took the responsibility very seriously and worked hard to offer a class that participants would like and find very beneficial. I just love the passion she has brought to teaching. From tossing balls to singing songs, she’s brought her own style to the class, and I am so appreciative of her hard work and warmth with our members.”
Holly Wendell –
Childcare Director McKenzie Callahan presented to Wendell and said, “Holly is truly a gem. She does so much for our team. She manages all of our billing, our child files, and proofreads everything that goes through our office. She also does a great job with managing our wait list. She is dependable and a joy to be around. I am so thankful to have her as part of our team.”
Tameeka Sizemore –
Chief Executive Officer Tara Britton, presented to Sizemore.
“Tameeka has such an amazing attitude. Her background is in childcare, so when she became our Membership Director last August, it was all new to her. She has just killed it,” Britton said. “She exceeded her goals for the January membership drive and also collected over 2,000 non-perishable food items for two local food pantries. Revenue is up in all of her member areas and I am getting very positive feedback from our members. It’s so great to have her on our team.”
“I am very proud of the numerous accomplishments and initiatives that our team has made to strengthen our community,” Britton added.
