Four arrested for armed robbery and battery

Columbus, IN – Four Jackson County men were arrested by polices after a man was allegedly pistol-whipped and robbed on the north side of Columbus on Thursday afternoon.

The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to the 3100 block of North National Road at 1:30 p.m. in regards to an alleged robbery. The victim told police that he had been battered and struck with a handgun.

CPD obtained a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were traveling in and shared it with area law enforcement agencies. A short time later on US 31, at County Road 800S, an Indiana State Police trooper and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies located and stopped the four suspects, one of whom was armed with a shotgun. They were all taken into custody without incident.

The victim was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Luis Javier Rivera Salaman, 37, along with Giovanny Abdiel Hernandez Acevedo, 21, and Jorge Nelson Ramos Barbosa, 25, all of Seymour, were all arrested on allegations of armed robbery and battery with a deadly weapon. Emmanuel Gil Peralta, 19, of Seymour, was arrested on an allegation of armed robbery.
