(Lawrenceburg, IN) – A former Lawrenceburg High School teacher is facing two felony counts of child seduction.

Elizabeth Schwarz of Greendale is accused of grooming and having an inappropriate relationship with one of her former students.

Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens said Lawrenceburg Schools administrators met with police on January 28 of this year after an employee received a message from the victim, claiming that she had an inappropriate relationship with Schwarz when she was a student.

Deddens added the victim also said Schwarz groomed them while they were a student.

Schwarz was placed on paid administrative leave and submitted a retirement letter several days later that was effective February 3.

According to Deddens, the alleged victim was a student in Schwarz’s class and was friends with the former teacher’s daughter.

The alleged relationship began in summer of 2014 after the victim was no longer a student of Schwarz’s.

Deddens says the relationship became a romantic one that included kissing, inappropriate touching and texting, and continued until the summer of 2015.

Schwarz was arrested Wednesday and appeared before Dearborn Superior Court I Judge Jonathan Cleary Thursday morning.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash and $50,000 surety.

Schwarz was being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
