Former Madison Mayor Pleads Guilty

(Madison, IN) – Former Madison Mayor Tim Armstrong pled guilty in Jefferson Circuit Court to two counts of attempted child exploitation and official misconduct.

The charges stemmed from an alleged incident in 2022 involving a 12-year-old.

Armstrong was working as a school resource officer and high school baseball coach at Madison Consolidated Schools at the time.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in March by Dearborn Circuit Judge Aaron Neganard, and could get five years’ probation and be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Ripley County’s Ric Hertel took over as Special Prosecutor in the case when the previous one resigned and moved out of the area.

Armstrong served as Madison’s Mayor from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2011.
