Former anti-heroin leader found guilty

bitzerDEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. — John R. Bitzer II, the man who once led group fighting heroin addiction, is now behind bars.

The former president of 1 voice, was found guilty of felony fraud and misdemeanor theft.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 2 and a half years on the fraud count and a year on the theft count.

Bitzer, 40,  received 299 days credit for actual days served, which translates to 598 good time days.

In November he admitted to probation violation and violating the county’s drug court program.

The violation includes false informing, and failing to perform drug tests.

He also came under investigation in Dearborn County when information surfaced that he mishandled funds as president of 1 Voice.

No charges have been filed as a result of that investigation.

1 Voice dismissed Bitzer after his arrest in Ohio.
