The fifth-grade lady Cardinals traveled to Mount Vernon Tuesday night for the second game of the season. It was a defensive battle as expected. 0-0 at the end of the first quarter. Katie Hammond knocked down a shot for two and Eloise Hamilton followed it up with a free throw to end the half at 3-0. The Vikings came back and scored five points in the third quarter. The Cardinals wouldn’t be denied an added four more points from Isla Padgett and Katie Hammond. The Vikings hit a free throw in the fourth quarter to make it an exciting one-point difference. With just seconds left on the clock, Heidi Schneider hit a line drive 15ft jumper to seal the game.
