The Indiana Fever are now 5-5 in the 2025 WNBA regular season after they beat the New York Liberty 102-88 Saturday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
After missing five games because of a left quad strain, Fever point guard Caitlin Clark returned to the court on Saturday, leading the Fever to deliver the Liberty, the reigning champions, their first loss of the season. The Liberty fell to 9-1.
Fever guard Sophie Cunningham also returned to the active lineup after she was out for two weeks with an ankle injury.
Clark finished with a season-high of 32 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.
While Clark dominated the first half, her performance somewhat dipped after the break. However, Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and center Aliyah Boston have stepped up, scoring the last three buckets: a Mitchell jumper, a Mitchell pull-up shot (both assisted by Boston), and a Boston “and-one” play. Boston also had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Fever also got 22 points from Mitchell.
Liberty point guard Sabrina Ionescu had 34 points.
The Fever will take on the Connecticut Sun Tuesday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The tipoff is at 7:00 EST.
