Brookville, IN — At this time, Franklin County High School (FCHS) reports they have six positive student cases of COVID-19. As a result, over 150 students have been quarantined, including the girls’ soccer team and both the JV and Varsity football teams. After consulting with the Franklin County Health Department, FCEA Discussion Team, and FCHS Administration, Franklin County High School will begin a hybrid model for learning. High school students will be divided in half.
Students with last names beginning with A-K will attend in person on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students with last names beginning with L-Z will attend in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On days students are not in person they will be working remotely from home. All FCHS students will work from home on Fridays; giving teachers the opportunity to engage students in small group meetings, for individual conferences, and for planning.
In order to prepare for this change, all students in grades 9-12 will have an eLearning day today. On Thursday, September 17th students with A-K last names will attend in person, and on Friday, September 18th students with L-Z last names will attend in person.
On Mondays, three days of breakfasts and lunches will be available to students for their remote days. Afterschool practices and activities will continue, at this time.
