(Lawrenceburg, IN) – The Major League Soccer Supporters’ Shield is making a stop at the Lawrenceburg Main Library on Thursday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Supporters’ Shield is given each year to the Major League Soccer team with the best regular season record. Last year, it was won by FC Cincinnati.
The award is presented by the Supporters’ Shield Foundation, elected annually by the Independent Supporters Council. Locally, the independent Supporters’ Groups for FC Cincinnati include Die Innenstadt, HANGAR 937 and The Pride.
The hope is the Supporters’ Shield will stay in the Cincinnati area for awhile, but it could be off to Los Angeles, New York, Kansas City or other destinations depending on the results of the current MLS season.
In addition to the Supporters’ Shield, there will be activities including free crafts and the chance to purchase food from the Silly Cow food truck.
You can also take a photo with the Supporters’ Shield.
Lawrenceburg Greendale Soccer Club will hand out information on upcoming sign-ups and tryouts.
The soccer coach for Indiana Special Olympics – Ripley Ohio Dearborn also will attend the event to share information about the program and the upcoming Fire Truck Pull fundraiser.
No registration needed. Everyone is invited, and you don’t have to live in the Lawrenceburg Public Library District.
