Fatal Accident early Sunday morning

Greensburg, IN — Early Sunday morning, Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident with injury on County Road 400 North Near Lake Santee.

According to the investigation, a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Nicolas Christianson, 19, of Greensburg, was driving westbound on County Road 400 North from County Road 700 East at a high rate of speed. At the intersection of County Road Northeast 80, Christianson lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle rolled before striking a utility pole. There were two other occupants in the vehicle.

Upon arrival to the scene, the occupants of the vehicle were attempting to care for the victim and responding volunteer fire units assisted with the victim until Decatur County EMS arrived. The Decatur County Coroner pronounced Christianson deceased at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation at this time. Mutual aid during the incident was provided by Decatur County Communications Center, Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, Stat flight helicopter, Decatur County Coroner, Tim’s Wrecker, and the Rush County Sheriff’s Office reconstructionist.
