Erma A. Hamilton, 93, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at The Willows of Greensburg. She was born November 12, 1932, in Lewis County, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Ora (Cooper) Dummitt.
On February 1, 1950, Erma married Othel L. Hamilton in Lewis County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2011.
Erma was the manager of the Dairy Queen for several years. After leaving there, she worked at the Walmart Snack Bar. Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed making quilts. Everyone in the family has one of Granny’s quilts. In her later years, when she was no longer able to quilt, she began working puzzles. She enjoyed her puzzles and chatting with anyone who would sit and work on puzzles with her.
Survivors include three sons, David (Rebecca) Hamilton, Michael Hamilton, and Timothy (Roxanna) Hamilton; one daughter, Brenda (Donald) Noah; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Othel; her parents; daughter-in-law, Carol Hamilton; four brothers, William Dummitt, Edsel Dummitt, Rival Dummitt, and Dale Dummitt; and two sisters, Hildreth Stone and Mabel Bloomfield.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Greensburg Community Church of the Nazarene, 711 W. 8th Street, Greensburg, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Burial will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Decatur County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
