Eight SE IN Counties Declared Disaster Areas Due to Heavy Rain

(Southeastern IN) – Eight Southeastern Indiana counties have been designated natural disaster areas by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) due to excessive rainfall on March 30.

The move allows USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend emergency credit to producers in Ripley, Decatur, Franklin, Dearborn, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, and Switzerland counties who are recovering from the natural disaster through emergency loans.

These can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts.

The FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

The deadline to apply is April 4, 2026.
