St. Leon, IN — An East Central High School senior has been arrested for allegedly threatening violence.
18-year-old Hayden Moore of West Harrison was charged with three counts of Intimidation (Level 6 felonies) and was booked into the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on Wednesday.
He was scheduled to appear before Judge Sally McLaughlin in Dearborn Superior Court II on Thursday for his initial hearing.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens says the charges stem from Moore allegedly commenting that “If he were to shoot up the school, he’d hide his grandfather’s gun inside his binder and bring it to school.”
Deddens says there were also remarks allegedly made as to who would be killed first.
“In today’s society, these types of comments cannot be tolerated. Schools need to be safe places and free from violence or threats of violence,” said Deddens.
East Central took action and removed Moore from school, and the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office conducted the criminal investigation.
Deddens also noted that a gun was not brought to school nor was one found in Moore’s home.
