Sixteen local swimmers from the East Central Swim Team will be competing at the Indiana State Championships (Senior State and Age Group State) in Indianapolis at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Senior State Championships are for athletes aged 15 and up, while Age Group State is comprised of athletes aged 14 and under. Senior State athletes include Skyler Cavins ( 100 Breast, 200 IM, 100 Back, 100 Fly, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay), Kaden Cummins ( 400 Free Relay), Kyra Hall (200 Back, 50 Free, 100 Back, 200 IM and 100 Fly), Tara Hall (100 Free and 100 Back), Ayden Ketchem (50 Free, 200 IM, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay), Ray Krider (100 Back, 200 Free, 400 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay), Frank Strotman (400 Medley Relay and 200 Medley Relay), Henry Strotman (200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay), and Nicholas Weber ( 100 Free, 50 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay). Age Group State athletes include Riley Reany (100 Back), Joan Strotman (100 Back), Kyle Goodwin ( 200 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay), Conner Murray (200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay), Andrew Strotman (200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay), Kalib Wagner (200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay), and Brogan Wilson (200 IM, 200 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Breast, 50 Breast, and 100 Free).
According to Coach Loveless, “This is quite an accomplishment this year for our team due to the fact that we are sending nine athletes to Senior State and seven athletes to Age Group State with some athletes going for the first time. I and the rest of the coaching staff are so proud of these kids and we cannot wait to see what they will do at the State Championships. These athletes challenge themselves everyday at practice and it shows when they compete.”
Senior State will be held March 12, 2021 – March 14, 2021 While Age Group State will be held on March 19, 2021 – March 21, 2021.
