St. Leon, IN — The National FFA has awarded more than $260,000 to FFA chapters in 33 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands, thanks to its Yearlong Living to Serve Grants.
Locally, members of the East Central FFA will use a $3,000 grant to continue the EC Re-Leaf program on the East Central High School campus.
They will remove non-native landscape vegetation and replace it with native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials.
Plantings will help wildlife and native pollinators as well as beautify the school campus.
The EC Re-Leaf program was established in 2017.
The nationwide Yearlong Living to Serve Grants program provides money to local FFA chapters to support yearlong service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health, and nutrition; and community engagement.
Tractor Supply Company and Cargill sponsor the grants.
