Dorothy M. Greenway

Dorothy M. Greenway, age 88 of Batesville, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at her home.  Born May 31, 1929 in Greensburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Frances (Nee Wenning) and Henry Haunert.  She married Richard Greenway December 11, 1976 in Covington Kentucky.  A home decorator, she also worked for Residential CRF and First Choice in Connersville and was a member of the Prell-Bland American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Batesville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1130.

According to her family, “mom liked to play the slots”, so along with visits to the boats locally, trips to the Tunica Mississippi casinos were always a favorite.  Dorothy liked to golf, was an avid mushroom hunter, enjoyed boating and crocheted afghans as well.  While Dorothy was a good cook, whose meatloaf and mushrooms and noodles will be missed, her attraction to the QVC channel makes the kids chuckle.

She is survived by her daughter Jane Walke of Batesville; sons Ron Bedel of Rushville, Indiana, Gerry Bedel of Guilford, Indiana, Doug Bedel of Batesville; sisters Mary Krekeler of Batesville, Annie Ricke of Greensburg; brothers Robert and Leo Haunert, both of Greensburg; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her sister Rita Litmer.

Visitation is Wednesday, July 12th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating.  Dorothy’s wishes were to be cremated following services so a private interment will be held.  The family requests memorials to the Batesville Rescue 10 Life Squad.
