BATESVILLE, Ind. — First responders were called to a fire Monday morning at the corners of East Pearl and Walnut Street that destroyed an entire apartment building.
The City of Batesville has established a relief fund for the nine families who are directly impacted by this fire.
Essentials such as cash and clothing are being accepted by the City of Batesville. Community members are encouraged to drop off donations by 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Building, 132 S. Main Street. The City can be reached at (812) 933-6100 or after hours at (812) 363-3645.
Mayor Mike Bettice said, “My prayers are with the individuals impacted by this tragedy. I am grateful to the many first responders from around the area who worked to limit the spread of the fire. The City’s focus right now is on the victims and I believe our community can rally together to help them get back on their feet.”
An account has been set up at MainSource Bank in Batesville and is accepting monetary donations on behalf of the families affected from Monday’s fire.

The city says the main need is for monetary donations which can be made at the Memorial Building between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
They are also accepting suitcases, luggage, duffle bags, and coolers.
The city is not accepting furniture donations at this time.
