Donald L Peters, 93, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on June 18, 2023 with his family by his side. Donald was born May 30, 1930 at home in Greensburg, Indiana to William and Flora (Blake) Peters.
Donald graduated from New Point School in 1948 where he was the class president, and had the lead role in the senior play. He served in the National Guard. He was also a lifetime member of Sandcreek Baptist Church.
He worked at Williamson Heater, Bohn Aluminum, and owned and operated the Star Sale Barn. He was a trader at heart. He bought and sold properties, farm equipment, cars, and trucks.
Donald never met a stranger. He had a big heart and smile. His door was always open to everyone. He treated everyone like family and was Papaw Don to many, not just his grandchildren. Donald had many exotic animals on his farm but his favorite were his Buffalo. Donald loved mushroom hunting and being outdoors. His Saturdays were spent at farm sales or auctions.
Donald was survived by the family he created with Leona (Schwier) Peters – children, Greg Peters, Peggy Welsh, Brad Peters, and Eric Peters (Amy Schetzsle) all of Greensburg, daughter-in-law, Linda Peters, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and sister, Ruth Ainsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Eddie Joe Peters, son-in-law, Larry Welsh, sisters Norma Lee Peters, Maude Hazelrigg, Mary Maynard, Thelma Overhauser, and brothers William Peters, Dale Peters, and John Peters.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the New Point Community Center on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
