Man shot by police in Holton standoff

HOLTON, Ind. — A man surrendered to police after being shot during a standoff in Ripley County Friday.

Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 4700 block of North County Road 850W in Holton around 5 p.m. 

Timmy Wayne Bowman, 48, had barricaded himself in the home when police arrived.

Police say Bowman exited the home and fired at least one shot at officers.

An Indiana State Police trooper returned fire, striking Bowman. Bowman ran back into the home.

Bowman surrendered without further incident around 10 p.m.

He was flown to UC Trauma Center for his injuries.

His current condition is unknown.
