(Decatur County, IN) – Decatur County residents have raised more than $2,244.74 in disaster relief assistance that is on its way to North Carolina, which was hit hard by Hurricane Helene.

The Decatur County Community Foundation (DCCF) began collecting monetary donations early this month.

Dollars are being sent to the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, which is based in Asheville.

“Every penny of the money collected is going directly to help the people of North Carolina,” said DCCF Executive Director Tami Wenning. “We are working directly with a Foundation that is based in the heart of one of the areas hardest hit. Their Foundation knows first-hand what their community’s needs are. Every donor can be assured that their gift will help with the greatest needs.”

DCCF will continue accepting disaster relief contributions through the end of October. To give to the effort, visit https://decatur.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1660.

The community foundation thanks all Decatur County residents who have given to the relief efforts, whether through monetary donations or physical items that were sent by other means.
