(Decatur County, IN) – The Decatur County Traffic Safety Partnership (TSP) is out with statistics from stepped up patrols conducted over the Memorial Day weekend.
Nine law enforcement officers from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office plus the New Point and St. Paul police departments participated in the patrols to crackdown on failure to use seat belts and aggressive driving.
The Decatur County TSP pulled over 59 vehicles.
The blitz resulted in one felony arrest, and two misdemeanor arrests.
There were 46 tickets written for the following violations:
- 34 seat belt
- 3 suspended drivers licenses
- 7 speeding violations
- 2 hands free violations
There were also 28 warnings issued.
The beefed up enforcement was part of a nationwide effort funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through grants administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
