Dearborn County Sheriff Issues Juvenile “Prank” Alert

(Dearborn County, IN) – The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office is out with a community alert about a trend among juveniles and young adults.

Homes are being targeted in the middle of the night and early morning hours, similar to the old “Ding Dong Ditch” prank.

Young people have been kicking and banging on doors and windows and causing property damage.

The sheriff’s office says what seems like a harmless prank can become a more serious problem if homeowners believe someone is trying to break in, which could lead to them to taking defensive action.

Parents and guardians are strongly urged to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and activities during the nighttime and early morning hours.

Anyone with surveillance video or information on these incidents is urged to contact the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 537-3431, or call 9-1-1.
