Lawrenceburg, In. — Dearborn County Hospital collected three large overflowing barrels of toys and approximately $1,000 in cash for the benefit of the annual Coalition for Children’s Christmas Toys (CCCT). Monetary and toy donations to the drive were made by Dearborn County Hospital and Dearborn County Hospital Physician Partners employees, the DCH Medical Staff and DCH Board of Trustees members.
DCH Chief of Staff Ira Younger, M.D., Ophthalmologist, presented the toys and monetary donations to Dee Hacker, CCCT Project Coordinator, and Karry Hollan, Executive Director of the Dearborn County Clearinghouse.
“It is a great joy to work with the CCCT and assist in their efforts to bring a little extra joy to the lives of our area’s children,” noted Dr. Younger. “The Coalition does a tremendous job each year and we appreciate the opportunity to be part of their initiative.”
In addition, DCH Nurse Practitioner Susie Martin, who cares for residents at the Shady Nook Care Center, spearheaded the drive there where staff, and residents and their families, filled three barrels. Many of the residents used their “Bingo Bucks” to contribute to the toy drive.
The Coalition for Children’s Christmas Toys, which is a cooperative endeavor supported by many area churches, organizations, schools, businesses and individuals, is coordinated by the Clearinghouse and staffed by its volunteers.
Each Christmas season, qualified families in Dearborn and Ohio Counties have the opportunity to prepare toy lists for their children to be filled through the Coalition’s toy drive.
