Indianapolis, In. — Two industry heavy weights have reached an agreement that could lead to Sunday alcohol sales in Indiana for the first time since prohibition.
Members of the Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers and Indiana Retail Council have reached the deal while operators of convenience stores object.
Scott Imus, executive director of the Indiana Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association said,” They are cutting a deal that greatly benefits themselves at the expense of Hoosiers who have identified the cold beer prohibition as the #1 alcohol reform needed in the state.”
A group of legislators are conducting a study on the matter before the next session of the Indiana General Assembly.
