(Greensburg, IN) – Thanks to the many hungry customers, the Decatur County United Fund strawberry festival was a huge success and is $18,128 closer to their campaign goal.
A grand total of 1,500 pre-orders were made and delivered throughout the morning and early afternoon on June 6 in Decatur County.
They also served 843 strawberry shortcakes at the outdoor tent on the southside of the square.
Joane Cunningham, Executive Director, shared, “This event would not be possible without the continued support and generosity of KB Specialty Foods, which donates the strawberries, shortcakes and whipped topping for the festival. Our thanks also go out to the Greensburg Community Bread of Life for the use of their great facility; the Decatur County Commissioners for allowing us to use the courthouse lawn, and Ellis Events for the red and white tent to help keep everyone cool during the long day. All the help is very much appreciated.”
Of course, the Strawberry Festival isn’t a festival without the help of many volunteers. One hundred and two dedicated individuals volunteered throughout the day.
Volunteers/companies who helped were Greensburg Community High School volleyball team, North Decatur FFA, Decatur County Family YMCA, First Financial Bank, Purdue Extension-Decatur County Homemakers Club, Delta Faucet, HONDA, JCBank, RBSK Partners PC, Speranza House, Edward Jones, Farm Credit Mid-America, Decatur County Kids Closet, Catch A Ride, Head Start, the Children’s Advocacy Center, and many other local individuals.
The Decatur County United Fund Board of Directors and staff worked throughout the day to make this event a success. The student directors were instrumental in keeping the flow moving. We also had Little Miss Tree City Alivia Collins help greet individuals in the drive-thru lane.
The Decatur County United Fund is very appreciative of everyone’s help and for their continued support. The dollars will support 15 non-profits providing 17 valuable programs and services to residents of Decatur County.
