Greensburg, In. — The Decatur County United Fund has announced the award of $34,784 in special grants to 16 community partners.
The grants are for short-term projects or one-time expenses that positively impact the community.
Here are the 2018 Special Grant awardees:
Advocates for Children $2,000 for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for enrichment activities for the children being served in the program;
Big Brothers/Big Sisters $2,500 to upgrade and purchase the Data Entry Match Management Systems;
Bread of Life $2,500 for 6 months of electric usage;
Carousel Play and Learn Center for $1,100 for STEM Kits for classrooms;
Community Healthcare Clinic $2,500 to meet prescription needs and initial specialists appointments;
Decatur County Youth Baseball $2,466 for replacement of baseballs, helmets, and other equipment;
Head Start $2,000 to improve outdoor space for children;
Human Services received $2,500 to purchase food for the food pantry;
Kids Closet of Decatur County $2,000 for the purchase of new clothes and shoes for back to school children;
Legal Aid $2,500 to purchase a new copier/printer;
New Directions $2,425 for rent for five months;
Our Hospice $2,500 to purchase medical equipment and supplies;
Rural Works Program $957 for signage for the program at the Greensburg Learning Center;
Turning Point $1836 for furniture to update the family communal living area;
United Way 2-1-1 $2,500 for 3 laptops to be used offsite and during a disaster;
Decatur County Family YMCA $2,500 for training hours for staff to meet Paths to Quality requirements.
