DCREMC Awards Operation Roundup Grants

(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County REMC Community Trust committee recently awarded 14 local organizations a total of $14,800 in Operation Roundup grant funds.

Organizations receiving awards include:

• Greensburg High School Champions Together Unified Track – $1,000 to purchase track uniforms for the implementation of Unified Track at Greensburg High School.
• Otter Creek Volunteer Fire Department – $1,200 to put towards purchasing a first responder vehicle.
• Champions of Youth Inc. – $1,000 to purchase hygiene items and kid friendly emergency food.
• Burney-Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department – $1,200 to purchase battery power tools for use on calls to car wrecks, trees down, etc.
• Smyrna Lutheran Cemetery Inc. – $1,000 to purchase wreaths through the Wreaths Across America Program to be placed on graves of veterans, and also to repair tombstones.
• Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department – $1,200 to help purchase a back-up generator.
• North Decatur Elementary School – $1,000 to help purchase supplies and materials to support a certified preschool program at NDE.
• Clarksburg Volunteer Fire – $1,200 to help purchase thermal imaging cameras for the first out engine at station one.
• Wreaths Across Ripley County – $1,000 to help purchase wreaths to place on veteran’s graves.
• Hands of Hope of Decatur County – $1,000 to help purchase food and sometimes limited household items and pet supplies for individuals and families in need.
• Community Health Clinic of Decatur County – $1,000 toward upgrading dental equipment.
• Covenant Resources Miscarriage Ministry – $1,000 to help create burial places at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg for miscarried babies
• Child Evangelism Fellowship Southeast Indiana – $1,000 to help fund t-shirts for children attending Good News Clubs & Camp Good News.
• Greensburg Youth Empowerment – $1,000 to help purchase items needed for a new equipment trailer.

Operation Roundup is a member-funded program established to support local charitable organizations serving Decatur County REMC members and communities.

When Decatur County REMC members round up their bill to the next whole dollar each month, they are making a direct impact in their community.

Since the program was established in 1999, Decatur County REMC has awarded 348 grants totaling over $623,000.
