(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is pleased to announce that Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine will now have a dedicated provider on-site beginning Wednesday, October 22. Dr. Bryan A. Schatmeyer, a spine surgeon, will be consistently available at DCMH, offering expertise in spinal deformity and complex spinal conditions to patients close to home.

Previously, Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine provided services in DCMH’s Rehabilitation & Medical Offices building through rotating providers. This new practice ensures greater continuity of care, improved collaboration with DCMH primary care providers, and enhanced access to specialty services for the community.

Dr. Schatmeyer joins the community with extensive training in the treatment of complex spine conditions, including degenerative cervical and thoracolumbar spinal deformity, spinal tumors, and cranial and spinal trauma. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive spine surgery, a technique designed to minimize tissue disruption, shorten recovery time, and optimize patient outcomes.

“Having Dr. Schatmeyer consistently on-site is a meaningful advancement for our patients,” said Rex McKinney, President and CEO of DCMH. “This collaboration with Goodman Campbell strengthens the continuity of care our patients receive and ensures that advanced neurosurgical expertise is accessible in Decatur County.”

Dr. Schatmeyer earned his medical degree through a competitive six-year BS/MD program at the Northeast Ohio Medical University, where he graduated with highest honors. He completed his neurosurgical residency at The University of Kansas Health System and has served in leadership roles within graduate medical education. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Dedicated to a patient-centered approach, Dr. Schatmeyer emphasizes personalized treatment plans and values clear communication with patients and their care teams.

“Every patient’s condition is unique, and I
believe exceptional outcomes begin with truly understanding their story,” said Dr. Schatmeyer. “I look forward to working closely with DCMH providers and caring for this community.”
