(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) team members proudly dressed in blue to raise awareness for National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Colorectal Cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men and women but is also one of the most preventable types of cancer with regular screening and early detection.
“Screening for colorectal cancer is one of the best things you can do for your health,” said Jenny Simon, Chief Nursing Officer at DCMH. “By raising awareness and encouraging early detection, we’re helping more people take charge of their well-being and stay healthy for years to come. Early detection can save lives!”
DCMH encourages individuals to take charge of their health by discussing screening options with their healthcare provider.
While the general recommendation is to begin screening at age 45 for those at average risk, individuals with a family history, genetic disorders, or other conditions may need to start even earlier.
