(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon for the recently-opened Rehabilitation and Medical Offices building.

The 26,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility located on North Lincoln Street houses physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, a pediatric therapy gym, cardiac rehab, and pulmonary rehab, all on the first floor. Hospital officials say patient comfort and healing remain a top priority; therefore, special care was taken in selecting all unique features of the building, including an interior walking track, private therapy rooms, direct access, and more.

The new building is home to rehabilitation services, including orthopedics and sports medicine, with an on-site x-ray on the first floor, a Decatur County Family Medicine (DCFM) practice, and a primary care clinic on the second floor. DCFM includes foot and ankle/podiatry physicians with an on-site x-ray, women’s care OB/GYN physicians, and several family medicine providers.

DCMH President and CEO Rex McKinney says the facility has been in the works, and needed, for several years.

“Our space in the hospital from a rehab services standpoint became insufficient due to the demand that we had for the services,” McKinney said. “Our team was just outstanding in making this vision become a reality.”

“Many patients made the transition from the hospital to the new building with us. They shared how convenient accessing the new building is and how helpful this has been to their healing journey,” said DCMH Director of Rehabilitation Services Lisa Oldham.

The community will be able to check out the new digs at an open house scheduled for Saturday, September 28 from 9-10:30 a.m.
