Decatur County, IN — Decatur County Community Schools (DCCS) will not require students and staff to wear masks during the 2021-2022 school year, especially if the Indiana Department of Health does not make their use mandatory.
Currently, the state health department is not requiring Indiana school children and staff to “mask up” during the upcoming school year.
In a letter to parents this week, DCCS Superintendent Jarrod Burns wrote that many have asked questions about next school year’s health and safety requirements. While mask-wearing won’t be required unless the state health department decides otherwise, Burns wrote that those who choose to wear a mask will be allowed to do so.
The first day of the 2021-2022 school year at DCCS is August 5.
