Darlene F. Huntington, 81, Greensburg

Darlene F. Huntington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2025. She was 81 years old.

Darlene was born on July 22, 1943, the oldest daughter of Marion and Ernestine Green. She was the proud older sister to Jim (Debbie) Green and Barbara Bohart.

She dedicated her life to her family and her faith in God, touching the lives of all who knew her.

On June 30, 1984, she married her loving husband, John. They made many wonderful memories with their children Jeff (Melody) Wright, Julie (Mike) Erwin, Joe (Carol) Wright, Carrie Huntington, and Cassie Pahl, her 13 grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was blessed to be a great-grandmother of 8 with the 9th one on the way.

Darlene loved going on camping trips with her parents and children. She travelled all over the United States and even got to visit Germany and other countries in Europe. She especially loved going to Disney World and visiting Amish country in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.  John and Darlene made two mission trips to Russia to help bring the word of God to orphanages there. She loved taking trips to the State Fair, creating beautiful flower gardens for all the birds and butterflies, reading books, shopping for gifts for her loved ones, making blankets, and making her famous sugar cream pie. All of her life, Darlene raised animals including horses, ponies, goats, ducks, chickens, cats, and dogs. Her faithful cockapoo Maggie was spoiled by her over the last 8 years. One of Darlene’s favorite things was visiting every zoo she could so that she could see her favorite giraffes.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister. She will be deeply missed by her surviving husband, children, grandchildren, and great-great children.

A memorial gathering will be held on April 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow the time of gathering at 7:00 PM, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
