Indianapolis, In. — The 20th annual Indiana Brewers’ Cup, the Indiana State Fair’s craft beer competition, was held at the Indiana Farmer’s Coliseum on Saturday, July 14. After a weekend full of tasting and judging, Daredevil Brewing Company was named Grand Champion Brewery.
Additionally, within the professional division, Daredevil Brewing Company was also named Indiana Brewery of the year. David Bordenkecher championed the home brew division and earned the title of Indiana Homebrewer of the Year.
Held for the second time at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum, the Indiana Brewers’ Cup predates craft beer’s explosion in popularity and has solidified its place as one of the nation’s largest competitions for home and professional brewers. Professional brewers had 32 possible divisions to enter as did their homebrew counterparts. The event is a Master Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB) qualifying competition and is also a Midwest Homebrewer of the Year Circuit Event. In addition to attracting brewers from across the state of Indiana, the Indiana Brewers’ Cup drew competitors from across the country.
In addition to the Indiana Brewers’ Cup being organized and presented by the Indiana State Fair, the Professional Grand Champion’s brews will be on tap for purchase during the Fair at “Indiana Beer, Wine & Spirits” presented by Visit Indiana located in the Grand Hall building.
“The Indiana Brewers’ Cup brings the brewing community together to celebrate professional and home brewers, recognizes outstanding craft beer and shares the winning beer with our fairgoers,” said Haley Lamp, Indiana State Fair & Event Center programming and events manager.
