Danny R. Atkins, 73, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away Sunday February 7, 2021 in Edgewood, Kentucky.
He was born May 25, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH, son of the late Herbert M Atkins and Elda Jean “Boots” (Meyer) Atkins.
Danny served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1966- 1968.
Danny worked as a Chemical Operator for a fertilizer company for several years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Bellaire and the Lawrenceburg American Legion. Danny was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. He enjoyed camping, wood working, and spending time with his family.
Danny is survived by his children Jennifer Atkins, Brandon (Andrea) Atkins of Greendale, IN, Brian (Amy) Atkins of Hebron, KY; sisters, Cheryl (Myron) Cors of Lawrenceburg, IN, Linda Sechrest of Aurora, IN, Barb Scherzinger of Lawrenceburg, IN; grandchildren, Hayley Friedhoff, Donovan Atkins, Jacob Atkins, Blake Atkins, Mia Golden, Sammy Golden; great grandchildren, Riley & Melody Roth; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Herbert and Elda “Boots” Atkins; and his loving wife, Ruth Ann (Schwarz) Atkins.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church (Bellaire), 4937 State Road #48, Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Services will be held at the church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Creighton Leptak officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery (Bellaire), Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
Contributions may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness. If unable to attend services, please call the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
