Daniel M. Shera, 70, of Connersville passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at home.
He was born September 13, 1945, in Connersville, one of three children of Maurice “Jack” and Martha Rowland Shera. He grew up in Laurel and was a 1963 graduate of Laurel High School.
Beginning in 1964, he was employed at Philco-Ford and its successors, retiring with 42 years of service.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served in Vietnam from May 1966 until May 1967 and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army on October 31, 1967.
On May 20, 1967, he was married in Laurel to Loretta Davison. Mrs. Shera survives.
He was a member of the Reginald Fisher Post #1, American Legion of Connersville. He grew up on the farm and always enjoyed farming.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Laura Frondorf and husband, Todd, of West Harrison, IN and Karen Gardner and husband, Kevin, of Greenfield, IN; three grandchildren, Nate Frondorf, Nora Gardner and Claire Gardner; a brother, Lt. Col (ret) James H. Shera and wife, Janice, of Altus, OK; and a sister, Barbara J. Dishman and husband William “Jay”, of Laurel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a beloved grandson, Will Frondorf.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Rudy Allen at 10 AM, Monday, June 13, 2016 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 until 8 PM Sunday.
Burial with military rites conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council will be in Laurel North Cemetery.
