VERSAILLES, IN — A Crowdfunding campaign aimed at developing a music and entertainment space on the Courthouse Square in Versailles has surpassed its goal with plenty of days to spare.

Last month, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) launched the $50,000 campaign.

Main Street Versailles was put in charge of leading the campaign and needed to raise the 50,000 by July 10 to receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

As of Tuesday morning, the Crowdfunding Campaign had raised $55,243.

Funds will be used to develop the Holdsworth Entertainment Pavilion in honor of Gary and Patsy Holdsworth for their years of dedication to the music programs at South Ripley Schools.

The Pavilion is set to be built in a pocket park on the Courthouse Square where two blighted properties once stood.

Since the original fundraising goal has been met, a new goal of $60,000 has been set to purchase percussive play instruments for the park.
