Crouch Calls For Independent FSSA Audit

(Statehouse) – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch is calling for an independent audit of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) after the agency acknowledged a $1 billion shortfall.

FSSA has proposed cuts to the Attendant Care program, which provides funding to parents and legal guardians who care for their medically complex children.

The Lt. Gov. and Republican gubernatorial candidate says the proposed cuts are an attempt by FSSA to address the shortfall in its Medicaid budget, which the agency announced in December.

“It’s extremely important that the $1 billion error the FSSA made is not put on the backs of these children and their families. We need to ensure moving forward they get the care and need they deserve.” Crouch said. “As I’ve mentioned many times, we will be judged on how we care for the most vulnerable among us. That’s why the ability to take care of these children is absolutely a critical need for the State of Indiana.

“To ensure that we don’t have these kinds of errors moving forward, I will call for an independent outside audit of FSSA so that we know we will never find ourselves in this position again,” she added.
