(Decatur County, IN) – Firefighters from Letts and the City of Greensburg battled a large field fire in the area of 4309 South 220 Southwest Wednesday afternoon.
Units arriving at the scene around 1:45 p.m. found a large brush fire rapidly heading toward standing corn.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
Officials says a small amount of corn was lost and the field was later tilled by the property owner.
The cause of the blaze wasn’t listed but firefighters say one way to lower the risk of field fires is proper maintenance and care of all farm equipment and machinery.
